Stroud

7a Worcester Street, Gloucester, GL1 3AJ,

Hi, and thank you for choosing to find out more about us here at Sure Lettings Stroud. With our fresh approach to Residential Lettings and Property Management, we hope we will be the Agent for you. With 90% of all tenants now making their next move by searching online first, we believe an online presence is essential and it’s why you’ve found us here.

Nestled in the Cotswolds, Stroud is quite often referred to as the five valleys, for the infrastructure stretches over the Frome (Golden), Nailsworth, Painswick, Slad and Toadsmoor Valleys. The third largest population in Gloucestershire (after Gloucester and Cheltenham), Stroud offers the rare opportunity of town living in a rural setting. With the river Frome running through its heart, it is no wonder Stroud was so significant during the industrial revolution becoming a centre for woollen and cloth manufacturing and the Thames & Severn Canal was built alongside. Situated close to the M5 and with good railway links to London, Stroud is a popular commuting town. With two grammar schools and good primary and secondary schools, the town offers a family-centric environment. In recent years it has become quite a hub for celebrities to settle too, including Keith and Lily Allen, Jilly Cooper, Katie Ffforde and most recently Mr Christian Grey, actor Jamie Dornan, settling in Chalford.

At Sure Lettings we are passionate about property but we’re also pretty keen on people too. Through our experience we know that the key to a long and successful tenancy is matching the right tenant with the right property and landlord. With over 15 years’ experience in property and NFoPP credentials, you can be assured that we have the right attributes, including local knowledge, to find you a tenant as quickly as possible and that your new tenant’s move will go as smoothly as possible.

If you want to be sure about your next move, trust us at Sure Lettings to help you.

Meet the Team

Jemma Wilkinson | Director

With over fourteen years' experience in the Lettings Industry, Jemma began her career in accounting. With AAT Level 4 you can be assured that your rental investment will safely be achieving a profit in her hands. Having worked for Surelet since 2002, Jemma has a broad scope of experience including valuing, property management, inventories and the administration of letting out properties. Her most recent role before becoming Franchise Director was Branch Manager for Rent It. In her current role Jemma handles new business and existing client care together with marketing and events. She also manages the accounting of the business, monitoring the all-important rent collection as well as figure analysis, in order to give advice on the best place to invest your money. When she's not in the office Jemma enjoys fine dining, holidays with her young family and spending time with the lover of her life; her dog, Lewi. She is a loyal Gloucester Rugby Fan as well as supporting Broadway Cricket Club (and being their tea lady!).

Tom Smith | Director

Initially involved in the Health and Fitness Industry, Tom joined a Cheltenham Lettings Company in 2009 as Lettings Manager before achieving Group Operations Manager in 2011. He joined the Surelet Team in 2012 rising from Lettings to Branch Manager before deciding to take on a Directorship together with Jemma and Rob in September 2015. With an extensive knowledge of Lettings and Staff Management, Tom oversees new business, marketing and human resources for the branch. His knowledge of both Cheltenham and Gloucester markets comes in most useful when renting out semi-rural properties. Tom has three young children; Alfie (9), Harry (7), and Daisy (6) and is a self-confessed, overly-competitive 'Football Dad'. Most weekends he can be seen cheering on from the sidelines, volunteering with the Under Sevens football coaching or playing 6-a-side football with a local team. And if all that doesn't keep him busy enough, he enjoys a round a golf even though he considers himself distinctly average... and very frustrated!

Robert Buckley MARLA | Director

MARLA qualified with a Diploma in Residential Lettings and Property Management and an Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Residential Lettings and Management, it's safe to say that your rental investment will be well looked after in Rob's hands. Having worked as a Lettings Negotiator for Hallam & Co and a Senior Lettings Negotiator at both Naylor Powell and Surelet before acquiring a Directorship last September, Rob has specific and experienced knowledge of the Gloucester Lettings Market. Rob is responsible for the day-to-day running of the front office and concentrates on new business, valuations and viewings. Rob loves travel and enjoys regular weekends away with his partner and two daughters in their VW Campervan. When not touring the country he enjoys watching rugby and charity dog walking on Sunday afternoons.

Before you read on, I know what you’re thinking, ‘oh, yes, well they would say that being a traditional estate agent’, and yes, we are obviously going to be rooting for the traditional agent, but with good reason, I feel, which is why I’ve decided to write an article about it. I have written about… Read more »

It always amazes me that just when I think I’ve run out of ideas to write about lettings for the blog (we’ve been going nearly three years now!), something very basic crops ups which really makes me think there is so much we, in the Lettings Industry, assume tenants and landlords already know. Browsing through… Read more »

We are coming up to that time to year where property chains sink, swim and many tread water. I think I’ve mentioned on the blog before what a metaphorical full stop Christmas is for the property industry. As we enter December, many people’s minds turn to Christmas, not everyone’s, but if someone in your chain… Read more »

It might be a little early to be hanging up the Christmas decorations and I really don’t want to sound like Scrooge, however, I am writing this in a very chilly office with the temperature having dipped to a balmy six degrees (feeling like minus one with the wind chill!). And, when the temperature drops… Read more »

Amazingly, we are nearing the end of 2018 (I’m really not sure where it’s gone?!) and also celebrating a year of Surelet Gloucester becoming Sure Sales and Lettings. We’ve had a very productive year and we are looking forward to working with more homeowners in 2019, in what could be a challenging year for the… Read more »

Sorry, sorry, I couldn’t resist a leaf pun! In all seriousness, the week before last I wrote about the buyer’s market we currently find ourselves in and, in an attempt not to alienate or deflate the sellers amongst us, I thought this was a good opportunity to provide some advice, from an Estate Agent’s perspective,… Read more »

Congratulations, you’ve had an offer accepted. From this point on you are entering the sales progression stage. This is the final hurdle but the most sensitive part of the whole process. The sales progression stage is the time following offer acceptance through to completion and moving day. One in three sales fall through during this… Read more »

Last time on the blog, Tom talked about MEES and landlords facing mandatory force to improve the energy efficiency of their rental properties. Since then, the Government has announced they’re not stopping there. Last week, the Ministry for Housing announced that they are going to carry out a private rental sector health and safety review*… Read more »

The property sector seems to be the talk of the town at the moment and new legislation is being introduced all the time!
